Setting the IP Address Using the arp/ping
Command
If you are using UNIX or OS/2, you can use the arp command to
set the IP address of the Internal Print Server, and the ping
command to check that you have set it correctly. You can also use
these commands in Windows 98/95/2000/NT, if you have
correctly installed TCP/IP networking on these systems.
Before you start, you will need the following information:

A valid IP address for the Internal Print Server. Ask your
system administrator for an IP address which will not cause
conflicts with any other device on the network. If you are the
system administrator, choose an address within your subnet
which will not conflict with any other device.

The MAC address of the Internal Print Server. This is the
hardware serial number of the interface, which cannot be
changed. You can check the MAC address on a status sheet.
Setting and checking the new IP address
To set the new IP address which you have obtained from your
system administrator, use the ARP command, with the -s flag
(create ARP entry).

Before you set the new IP address using the ARP command, you
need to select
PING for Get IPAddress in Network Menu of the
printer’s control panel.

To set the IP address using arp and ping commands, the IP address
of the Internal Print Server must be the default IP address
(192.168.192.168) and the printer must be in the same segment as
the host computer.
