In the following steps, substitute the name that the internal print
server will be known by for HOSTNAME, and the name by which
you want the printer to be known for Rprinter.
1. Register the IP address and host name in the /etc/hosts file.
For example:
22.33.44.55 HOSTNAME
2. Create a spool directory.
For example:
mkdir/var/spool/lpd/PRIFx
3. Add the printer entry to the /etc/printcap file.
For example:
RPrinter |
AL-C2000:lp=:rm=HOSTNAME:rp=aux:sd=/var/spool/
lpd/PRIFx
4. Print a file using the “lpr” command.
For example:
lpr -s -PRPrinter Print-File-Name
Note:
Files that exceed 1MB may not be printed unless the -s option is used.
