POS-4000 register mode
The following chapters contain the description of all functions available in the cash register
mode of the POS-4000. Since they are mostly fiscal ones, it is best to practice these functions
in the training mode.
Registration mode is available via the mode selection menu.
Recommended daily procedure for the cash register
There are specific procedures that should be performed at the beginning and end of each day.
At the beginning, the manager should:
1. Check whether there is enough till roll in the unit for a day’s transactions and, if
necessary, fit a new paper reel.
2. Print the daily X report and make sure that the correct date and time are set in the
cash register; also check if the daily Z report was printed for the previous day.
3. Make sure that there is enough spare change in the cash drawer.
4. Record any added cash into the cash drawer by using the RA key (
m
/
m
).
At the end of the day the manager should:
1. Perform the daily Z report.
2. Cash taken from the drawer should be recorded using the PO key (
n
/
n
).
Register mode - operations
After logging in and entering the register mode, the whole range of registration mode functi-
ons is available to the cashier: sale functions, stock management and other fiscal operations.
Specifically, these are:
• article
sale,
• surcharging/discounting an article,
• voids and refunds,
• payments in various currencies and forms (cash, cheque, and credit),
• cash/cheque flow registration from/to the cash drawer,
• handing out from stock.
The primary function of the cash register is a sale, which operates as follows:
1. The sale begins with an item, a refund, or by entering a customer number. The
customer number can be entered only once and cannot be changed or erased after-
wards.
2. Continue sale by scanning further items, assigning surcharges/discounts, perform-
ing further refunds or voids of already entered articles or surcharges/discounts.
Voids are only possible within the actual sale; refunds should be used for voiding
articles purchased within another sale. You can perform a subtotal for information
purposes at any time.
