Replacing parts
Accessing internal components
Shut down and open the E-46A when you need to inspect or service internal components. Always use the following
procedures when opening the E-46A for inspection or service.
Shutting down the system
For accessing the internal components, it is recommended to disable the power synchronization before you shut down
the E-46A. For information about how to shut down the E-46A when power synchronization is OFF, see
shut down the E-46A when power synchronization is OFF”
When shutting down the E-46A, do the following:
•
Remove the power cable from the connector panel before accessing the internal components.
•
If you are cycling power, wait at least 10 seconds before powering back on.
•
If you are unable to shut down the E-46A, power off by pressing the power button on the side of the Fiery
QuickTouch for up to eight seconds.
Opening the E-46A
Before you open the E-46A, it is strongly recommended that you review
on page 12 to avoid injury or
damage to the E-46A.
To open the E-46A

Shut down the E-46A (see

Wait 10 seconds after the E-46A powers off, and then remove all cables from the back of the E-46A.

If applicable, Remove the E-46A from the furniture.

Remove all external panels necessary to access the component that you need to service.
At the minimum, you must remove the left panel to service the component. You may also need to remove other
panels, depending on the component that you need to access. For guidelines on which panels to remove, see the
service procedures that accompany a given component.
Note:
When removing multiple panels from the E-46A, use the following order:

Remember that when the E-46A is powered off, network access to the printer is interrupted.
Always obtain permission from the site administrator before you take the E-46A off the network.
