To generate an IPv6 global unicast address for the switch, complete the
following steps:
1.
From the global configuration mode prompt, type “interface vlan 1” to
access the interface-configuration mode. Press <Enter>.
2.
From the interface prompt, type “ipv6 address
ipv6-address
” or
“ipv6 address
ipv6-address
/
prefix-length
,” where “prefix-length”
indicates the address bits used to form the network portion of the
address. (The network address starts from the left of the prefix and
should encompass some of the ipv6-address bits.) The remaining bits
are assigned to the host interface. Press <Enter>.
3.
Type “exit” to return to the global configuration mode prompt. Press
<Enter>.
4.
To set the IP address of the IPv6 default gateway for the network to
which the switch belongs, type “ipv6 default-gateway
gateway
,” where
“gateway” is the IPv6 address of the default gateway. Press <Enter>.
Console(config)#interface vlan 1
Console(config-if)#ipv6 address 2001:DB8:2222:7272::/64
