4.8.10 Monitoring of the fan motor overload cutout
The fan motor is monitored by the motor overload cutout. The auxiliary contact is open in the alarm state (no
signal at the input of the controller). The alarm message "
" is sent if the motor overload cutout
Mot. cutout Fxx
trips. The motor protection monitoring differs depending on the type of control.
Step control
Digital inputs are provided for monitoring the fan motors. If the floating contact of the motor overload cutout
opens, the corresponding fan output is reset and an error message is logged in the fault memory. The
message is forwarded according to preselected priority. The fan is enabled for the regulation when the contact
is closed. For some types of system, the fan output must also stay set after tripping of the motor overload
cutout. Therefore, the reset of the fan output can be deactivated using a parameter (Fan off by al.).
Speed control
Digital inputs are provided for monitoring the fan motors. If the floating contact of the motor overload cutout
opens, an error message for the relevant fan motor is recorded in the fault memory. The message is forwarded
according to preselected priority. The number of fans to be monitored for speed-controlled fans is specified
using the parameter No.Cond.Stages (menu 3-1). Two stages are always used for the regulation.
Combined control
Digital inputs are provided for monitoring the fan motors. If the floating contact of the motor overload cutout
opens, the corresponding fan output is reset and an error message is logged in the fault memory. The
message is forwarded according to preselected priority. The fan is enabled for the regulation when the contact
is closed. For some types of system, the fan output must also stay set after tripping of the motor overload
cutout. Therefore, the reset of the fan output can be deactivated using parameters. Motor overload cutout
stage 1 monitors the fans connected to the speed controller. In the combined control - parallel operating mode,
the fan output 1 is not reset in the case of tripping of the motor overload cutout of the fan stage 1 as this would
deactivate all fans. Only a fault report is output. The following maximum numbers of fan stages can be
monitored:
Base module: 3 fan stages
Configuration with one SIOX extension module: 7 fan stages
The fault output of the speed controller / frequency converter can be monitored via the input for the fan motor
protection pf the stage No.Cond. 1. If there is no voltage applied at this input (fault on the speed
controller), the fan output 1 for the enable of the speed controller is reset and the relay output of the fan stage
No.Cond. 1 is set so that emergency operation is possible.
Only applies for parallel combined controller: In the case of condenser combined control, it must
strictly be ensured that the output for the power supply bridging is used. Otherwise, the cooling is no
longer guaranteed in the case of a frequency converter fault.
