Installation Requirements
Flywheel Installation
1.
Flywheel - The flywheel and Torsional Coupler assembly must be an Eaton approved design and must be
installed per the appropriate Eaton or Engine OEM specifications.
Cooler Requirements
2.
Cooler - An external transmission cooler must be used with the Fuller UltraShift ASW transmission. The cooler
sizing must meet the requirements specified in this document.
3.
Pressure Drop - The maximum pressure drop through the transmission cooler is 10 PSI @ 8 GPM of oil flow
(at normal operating temperatures).
4.
Heat Transfer - All coolers must have a minimum of 1000 BTU/minute heat transfer (with vehicle idling and
stationary).
5.
Transmission cooler must with-stand operating pressure up to 300 PSI.
6.
Cooler Lines - The cooler and cooler connecting lines should be free of debris, dirt, grease, etc. before being
attached to the transmission. If these conditions exist, cooler lines must be flushed or cleaned. A minimum of
#12 (3/4 inch I.D.) cooler hose or comparable tubing must be used.
Dipstick and Dipstick Tube Requirements
1.
Dipstick - New dipstick and tube designs are required to be approved and/or validated by Eaton as supplied by
the OEM.
2.
Support Bracket - A supporting bracket to eliminate vibration is required at the upper end of the dipstick tube.
The bracket must be attached to the transmission or engine and not the frame or body.
3.
Lubricant Fill - A minimum overall vertical rise of 6” must be maintained above the clutch housing oil pan
mounting surface to aid in oil filling.
4.
Lubricant Reading - The first section of the dipstick tube must be vertical from the oil pan connection to a min-
imum of 2.5” above the clutch housing oil pan mounting surface to ensure accurate level readings.
5.
Lubricant Level - Actual oil level must be within Eaton specifications according to the dipstick readings.
Lubrication Requirements
1.
WetClutch portion- Synthetic Dexron®III oil must be used.
2.
Transmission Gear Box - Roadranger CD 50 Transmission fluid (SAE Grade 50) or equivalent synthetic must be
used.
