Replacing the EFX48
The EFX48 can be replaced without switching off the dc power, but all loads and batteries will
need to be disconnected.
Ensure that before any work is started:-
Approval is sought for disconnecting loads.
Load and battery connections are removed in accordance with the instructions in the
Installation section on page 55, but the steps followed in reverse. Ensure all warnings are
reviewed and adhered to in the DC System and Component Safety section on page 10.
Before you start you will require:
•
A Laptop/PC with the Eaton configuration tool ICE-X connected to the EFX48 directly or

A copy of the appropriate configuration file, either:
•
use the configuration file saved from the existing EFX48 using ICE-X, or
•
contact your Eaton dc power system supplier to obtain a master configuration file to
suit the dc power system. This file will have to be customized for the site.
Step 1 - Backup the configuration file of the old EFX48 if possible
If the old EFX48 is still operational use the Eaton configuration tool ICE-X to backup
its configuration file.
See Backup and Restore on page 76.

When the EFX48 stops communicating the rectifier output voltage will be
unchanged for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes the rectifier output voltage will change
to the Float Voltage and the rectifier yellow LEDs will flash.
Step 3 - Insert the new EFX48
1
Insert the EFX48 and tighten the retaining screw.
