ES Series Models II/III Portable Radio Operating Manual
Multi-Net Features
Automatic Transmit -
This mode is typically used in radio systems that do have a
centralized dispatch console that can send a response that acknowledges automatic
transmissions. When the Emergency button is activated with Automatic Transmit
programmed, the Emergency Zone and Channel are selected and scanning is disabled. The
transceiver begins automatically transmitting the Emergency Alert call on the
programmed emergency zone/channel every 10 seconds using access priority 1. User PTT
events are processed normally during automatic transmit. The auto transmit timer is reset
at release of PTT.
When the dispatcher receives an emergency call, the radio’s unique ID and other
information is displayed on the console. The dispatcher then responds to the call which
dedicates a channel to the emergency call. When this call is detected by the transceiver, it
halts automatic transmissions. All further transmit attempts are made on the dedicated
channel until the emergency call is ended by the dispatcher sending an acknowledge
message. While emergency is active Zone and Channel selection and scanning remain
disabled. After dispatcher reply, any further subscriber transmissions occur at the access
priority programmed for the Group selected by the emergency button.
Note
While the user may terminate the emergency mode from the radio (emergency button press
and hold or by cycling power), only the dispatcher action will terminate the emergency
condition and release the repeater for others to use.

Encryption
Voice encryption is currently not available on Multi-Net channels. However, it is available
with the other operating modes.
7.8
Group Scanning
Each MultiNet system can be programmed with group scan lists that can include up to 32
channels (groups) linked to that system (see limitations in Section 7.8.2). The Multi-Net
group scan feature of this radio monitors the Multi-Net groups in the scan list of the
selected system (home channel).
Note
To scan other home channels (systems) of single or multiple sites, use radio wide scanning
(see Section 4.12.2).
