ES Series Models II/III Portable Radio Operating Manual
Multi-Net Features
With all Unit/Directed Group calls, no special authorization is required. All that is needed
is proper programming of the radios originating and receiving the call. Therefore, a Unit
call can be made to any radio in the same site or some other site that is programmed to
receive Auxiliary calls. The same applies to Directed Group calls except that the radio
receiving the call does not need to be programmed for Unit calls, just the group ID being
transmitted.
7.3
Caller Identification
The caller identification feature momentarily displays the four-digit unit (unique) ID code
of the calling radio and/or the talkgroup ID code of the call when group calls are received.
This feature is enabled or disabled radio wide by “PTT ID” and “TG on Rx”
programming, and each can be displayed for 0.5-7.0 seconds. The normal group alias is
then displayed continuously (see Section 7.9).
Note
Call Indicator is currently not available. This transceiver currently does not support
external data equipment in the Multi-Net mode.
7.4
Dynamic Move to a New Zone / Channel
The Multi-Net dynamic move to a new system/group feature automatically changes the
currently selected system/group of the radio. This can be done to ensure that all radios are
on the correct system/group to receive and important message.
7.5
Dynamically Re-programmable Zone / Channel
A dynamically re-programmable zone/channel can be specified for each Multi-Net system.
Any of the up to 16 Multi-Net channels programmable per Zone can be specified. With
other Multi-Net radios, this function is restricted to group 11 of each system.
This channel can be programmed over-the-air by the system manager and also as a
standard Multi-Net channel. This allows a Multi-Net channel to be set up over the air by
the system manager.
One use of this feature could be during an emergency situation to allow communication
between users that normally could not talk to each other.
