PROFIBUS PA Fieldbus

9.1

Introduction

The DPI620G-IS can communicate with devices that use the

PROFIBUS PA Fieldbus implementation. This is achieved via
an integrated modem.

Note: The modem hardware is only included in DPI620G-
IS-PB or DPI620G-IS-FFPB.

This section provides detail of how to connect PROFIBUS PA

device to the DPI620G-IS.

9.2

PROFIBUS Configurations

Before setting-up the electrical connections between the
PROFIBUS device and the DPI620G-IS, the correct
configuration should be established.

A PROFIBUS network at its simplest consists of a field device,
2 terminators and a power supply. The terminators and
power supply are available within the DPI620G-IS.

This allows the connection of the DPI620G-IS to:



Already existing networks where the power supply
and termination are already present.



Stand-alone PROFIBUS PA devices.



Any network configuration in between.

Note: The DPI620G-IS internal power supply is current

limited to approximately 30mA.
