Intended use
The remote access box Dräger RAB 7000 is intended for fixed use
and is used for the remote calibration of the Dräger PIR 7000 and
Dräger PIR 7200 gas transmitters (from gas transmitter software
version 1.1 onwards). The gas transmitter parameters that may need
to be changed for a calibration, such as calibration gas, calibration gas
unit and calibration gas concentration, can be configured using the
remote access box (within the limits specified by the gas transmitter).
The converter module located in the remote access box offers
a display for ease of use, and two keys for operation.
The remote access box must not be operated at ambient
temperatures below -40 °C (-40 °F). The upper maximum permissible
temperature is +65 °C (+149 °F).
The remote access box is approved for device categories II 2G and II
2D and can be installed in zones 1 or 2 and in zones 21 or 22.
Tests and approvals
The Ex-approvals apply to the use of the remote access box in gas /
vapour air mixtures of flammable gases and vapours or dust / air
mixtures of flammable dusts under atmospheric conditions. The Ex-
approvals do not apply for use in oxygen enriched atmospheres.
Approvals: see "Technical Data" on page 39,
Certificates: see page 231 to page 234.
The remote access box has undergone a safety related assessment
concerning the internal software and digital techniques, based on the
harmonized standard EN 50271.
Hints for safe use
In potentially gas-explosive areas (zones 1 and 2)
the cover of the
remote access box is only permitted to be opened for maintenance
purposes.
In potentially dust-explosive areas (zones 21 and 22)
there is no
explosion protection if the cover of the energised remote access box
is opened. The hazardous area has to be temporary de-classified if
necessary.
Before closing the cover of the remote access box make sure the
atmosphere is free of dust.
Installation
Installation of the remote access box should only be carried out by
experts (e. g. service organisation of Dräger) observing the conditions
in force at the relevant place of use.
Mounting
–
Mounting of the remote access box in a horizontal position at
a low-vibration location that is as stable as possible in terms of
temperature (avoid direct sunlight) and that is sufficiently
accessible for maintenance purposes.
–
The full scope of environmental influences to which the remote
access box can be exposed must be noted. Avoid external influ-
ences such as splash water, oil, corrosive aerosols (e. g. salt mist)
etc. and the possibility of mechanical damage.
