PERMANENT WAXLESS GLIDE
A PHANTOMed base will continue to have consistent and fast glide, for as long as the base is kept in good condition. In
practice, this means that some maintenance is required at regular intervals.
When the bases begin to look dry/white, this is a sign that abrasion has formed micro-hairs on the base. These can be
managed through polishing, with either a felt roto brush, or a soft polishing pad. Dirt and grease also need to be cleaned
off regularly. Use a citrus base cleaner, and follow up with polishing.
If the structure of the bases becomes damaged or severely abraded, a base grind is recommended. A base grind should
always be followed by polishing.
Following the finishing/brushing process in Step 5 (or 6), polish the bases with a felt roto brush. Do 2 passes in both
directions (i.e. tip to tail, and then tail to tip). Take care to move the brush quickly along the bases in order to not cause
friction burn. At this point, the ideal base appearance is matte black.
Do a final top sheet clean using wd-40 and a paper towel, rubbing vigorously. Then clean with rubbing alcohol. Once
alcohol is dry if you cannot see any PHANTOM stains move on to cleaning side wall and edges. Or if it seems further
cleaning is needed use a wire brush lightly in a circular motion with wd-40 until the stains are gone. Check the stains are
fully gone using rubbing alcohol once again.
Wipe the whole ski off. Visually inspect to make sure that everything looks clean and correct.
Place PHANTOM sticker on each ski.
