Overview
In order to print data, the printer must respond correctly to signals and
commands received from the host computer. Configuration is the process of
matching the printer’s operating characteristics to those of the host computer
and to specific tasks, such as printing labels, or printing on different sizes of
paper. The characteristics that define the printer’s response to signals and
commands received from the host computer are called configuration
parameters.
You can configure the printer using the configuration menus and the control
panel, or by sending control codes in the data stream from a host computer
attached to the printer. This chapter provides a tutorial introduction to
configuring the LG
plus
Series printer using the configuration menus stored in
the printer’s memory, and the control panel display and keys. Figure 3–1
shows an overview of the LG
plus
Series configuration menus.
Immediately following the menu overview illustration is background
information on topics such as changing and saving parameters, custom
configurations, and operating modes. Several step–by–step procedures are
also provided that show how to change configuration parameters, save
configurations, print configurations, and load configurations from printer
memory. For details on the entire set of configuration menu options, see
Chapter 4.
