Figure 6-5: Preferences Window, Extras Tab
The
Extras
tab allows you to set the default prefix and choose to segment the created wave files. The
prefix will be appended to the beginning of each wave file. This default prefix will also be displayed in
the
Create Wave Files
Window and can be changed as needed.
The option to break up the wave files will be used when creating the wave files. When selected, the
files will be broken up into wave files no longer than ten minutes each. For example, for a track of one
hour and 45 minutes, 11 tracks will be created. Ten tracks of ten minutes in length and one track of
five minutes will be created. Each wave file will be named according to the standard naming
procedure and will have “_X” appended to the end of the file name, where “X” is the sequence
number of the track.
The
Automatic Volume Adjustment
option is used to apply an Automatic Gain Control (AGC) to the
audio when the wave files are created. This AGC will ensure a louder audio level in the created wave
files. The AGC is useful because of the large dynamic range of the SSABR G2. This dynamic range
allows recording of both very quiet and very loud audio. However, normal recorded audio levels will
result in very quiet sounding wave files without the use of the
Automatic Volume Adjustment
to
amplify the levels.
