allows the SSABR G2 software to write directly to the CD-R as if it were a standard hard drive. Before
downloading the image file to a CD, the CD must be inserted into the CD-R drive and “formatted”
using the DirectCD software. Once the downloading and verification is complete the CD must be
“closed” to prepare it to be read by a standard CD player. Please reference the Easy CD Creator
online help and manuals for more information.
To start the download process, click the
Begin Download
button. If you have checked the “
Prompt to
download additional evidentiary copy(s)
” option, you will be prompted to select the location where
you would like the backup copy to be stored. The backup copy will have the same name as the original
image file except that the letter “B” will be appended to the end of the main file name (before the
“.ig2” extension). Next, a window will appear displaying the progress of the download. The time
required to download a complete image will vary from computer to computer. The speed of the
download depends on several factors: the speed of the CD-R (if writing to a CD-R), the speed of the
PC, and the size of the memory of the SSABR G2. The standard memory size for the SSABR G2 is
512 Megabytes. This size usually takes 40 minutes to download the entire contents of the flash.
Selecting the “
Only download recorded flash
” option will instruct the download procedure to only
download the recorded contents of the SSABR. A partial download will require less time.
Once the download has completed, the CDU software will verify that the image file was written
without errors by performing a “verify operation”. When this has completed

, you will be asked if you
wish to make another backup copy of the image file if you have checked the “
Prompt to download
additional evidentiary copy(s)
” option. After all backup copies are made the CDU software will erase
the contents of the SSABR G2 unit. At this point, you may configure the unit for a different setup and
schedule any recordings.

If writing to a CD-R via the DirectCD software the blank CD will have to be “formatted” upon insertion and “closed”
after it has been written to. Each backup copy of the image file will require this CD insertion and removal process to be
repeated.
