Battery Latch Assembly
Removing the Battery Latch Assembly
CAUTION:
Before you begin the following procedure, follow the safety
instructions that shipped with your computer.

Follow the instructions in "Before Working on Your Computer" on page 29.

Remove the hard drive (see "Removing the Hard Drive" on page 33).

Remove the WLAN card (see "Removing a WLAN Card" on page 37).

Remove the fan (see "Removing the Fan" on page 41).

Remove the hinge cover (see "Removing the Hinge Cover" on page 53).

Remove the keyboard (see "Removing the Keyboard" on page 57).

Remove the display assembly (see "Removing the Display Assembly" on
page 65).

Remove the palm rest (see "Removing the Palm Rest" on page 79).

Disconnect the
cable that secures the internal card with Bluetooth
®
wireless technology to the system board (see "Removing the Card

Remove the optical drive (see "Removing the Optical Drive" on page 91).

Remove the system board (see "Removing the System Board Assembly" on
page 95).

Remove the battery latch spring.
NOTICE:
The battery-latch assembly spring is not secured to the latch assembly
and can be easily misplaced. When removing the battery latch assembly, place the
spring in a secure location until the latch is ready to be reinstalled.

Remove the screw securing the battery latch to the base of the system.

Lift the edge of the battery latch.

Remove the battery latch from the system.

Squeeze the securing clips on the battery lock latch together.

Remove the battery lock latch.
