Attenuation
Attenuation measures the reduction in the signal level as it
travels over the length of a cable.
Attenuation is measured over a range of frequencies. The amount
of attenuation loss is expressed in decibels (dB). A signal is
transmitted by the remote unit and received by the main unit (i.e.,
the signal is OneWay).
Attenuation is one of the tests run during Autotest and Quick
Check. It can also be run individually.
Attenuation
detects:
• One-way attenuation of each cable pair
• Poor connections/terminations
• Substandard wire
• Faulty connectors
