noise and their solutions.

Electric motors
Re-route the cable and/or follow your
installation specification.
If in an extremely noisy environment, it may
be necessary to choose an alternate media
instead of UTP (for example, coax, fiber,
etc.).
Light fixtures
Same as for electric motors.
Power lines
Same as for electric motors.
RF interference
Same as for electric motors.
Data lines are
shared with
voice lines
Keep data lines separate from voice lines.
Re-route voice lines to a different cable.

from one end,
but not the
other, or noise
is much greater

The cause of the noise is closer to one end
than the other.
Perform a LENGTH test from the end that
detects the noise to determine if there is an
anomaly present.
Follow the segment from the end noise was
detected and look for “Common Causes of
Noise.”
