▪ For ambient air-dependent mode, the installation room must be
free from aggressive vapours (e.g. hair spray, perchloroethylene,
carbon tetrachloride), heavy dust formation and high atmospheric
humidity (e.g. laundry).
▪ Outdoor installation is not permissible.
▪ Installation in an explosion-risk environment is not permissible.
▪ The electronic controller may never be exposed to the effects of
the weather.
▪ The storage tank may not be exposed to continuous direct
sunlight , as the UV radiation and the effects of the weather will
damage the plastic.
▪ The GCU compact must be installed protected from frost .
Surface temperatures, minimum distance
DANGER: RISK OF BURNING
The plastic wall of the storage tank of the GCU compact
can melt under the effects of external heat (>80 °C) and, in
extreme cases, can catch fire.
▪ Only install the GCU compact with a minimum distance
of 1 m to other heat sources (>80 °C) (e.g. electrical
heater, oil heater, chimney) and the material to be com-
busted.
CAUTION
If the GCU compact is not installed a sufficient dis-
tance below the flat solar panels (the top edge of the stor-
age tank is higher than the bottom edge of the solar pan-
els), the unpressurised solar system in the outdoor area
will not be able to drain completely.
▪ When a solar connection is used, install the GCU com-
pact low enough at the flat solar panels (observe min-
imum gradient in the solar connection lines).
▪ In ambient air-independent mode with rated power, the design
does not allow temperatures > 70 °C on any component outside
the device panels. Therefore, no minimum distance is specified for
components made of flammable materials.
▪ A minimum distance of 50 mm between the flue gas line and flam-
mable components should be maintained in a partial ambient air-
independent and ambient air-dependent operation (separate flue
gas/air supply pipes).
▪ Do not use or store easily inflammable and easily combustible
substances directly next to the GCU compact (minimum distance
1 m, see
Fig. 4-10 ).
▪ When installing the device as described in Chap. 4.4.2 , we recom-
mend maintaining the minimum distances from walls and ceilings
in order to perform maintenance and repair work without excess-
ive installation effort.
4.4.2 Installing the device
WARNING
The GCU compact is top-heavy in the unfilled state and
could tip over during transport, which could put persons in
danger or damage the device.
▪ Secure the GCU compact well, transport carefully, use
handles.
Precondition
▪ The installation site complies with applicable country-specific reg-
ulations and meets the minimum requirements described in
Chap. 4.4.1 .
Installation
1 Remove the packaging and dispose of it in an environment-
friendly manner.
2 Pull the cover screens off the storage tank ( Fig. 4-9 , item B) and
unscrew the threaded fittings ( Fig. 4-9 , item F) from the open-
ings at which the handles are to be fitted.
3 Screw the handles ( Fig. 4-9 , item A) into the now uncovered
threaded holes.

4 Carefully transport the GCU compact to the installation site using
the
handles .
5 Installing the GCU compact at the installation site.
