Start-up
Working cycle test
Firing
Setting and checking safety units
Working cycle test
• Open, then immediately reclose fuel
ball valve.
• Switch burner on.
• Select, on burner control panel
TC
,
manual operating mode
S1/H10.1 - S29
&
- S2
'
.
• Close thermostatic circuit.
Leakage controller is switched on for
burners
C160
and
C210
.
After 30s, the test is OK if amber lamp is
on. Current is fed to the control and
safety unit;
unit
red lamp lights up.
• Open the control unit and check if it is
working correctly.
Program sequence should be as follows:
- complete opening of the air flap,
- preventilation, 20s.,
- return to ignition position,
- electrodes ignition for 3s,
- valves open,
- valves close no more than 3s after
opening,
- burner stops due lack of gas pressure
or control unit locks because flame
goes out.
If unsure, redo above test.
Unit can only be fired once this very
important working cycle test has been
performed.
Firing
Warning:
Burner may be only fired when all
the requirements listed in previous
sections have been met.
• Connect a microammeter (with scale
0 to 100µA DC) in place of the
measuring bridge found under
TC
.
Respect the direction of
connection.
• Open fuel valves.
• Close thermostatic circuit.
Leakage controller is switched on for
burners
C160
and
C210
. Following test
(30s), unit switches on.
• Release control unit.
Burner is in operation.
• Check the following:
- combustion as soon as flame
appears,
- any possible gas train leaks.
No leaks should be observed.
• Read ionisation current (value set from
10 to 50µA).
• Measure gas flow at meter.
• Increase power to nominal flow-rate by
pressing
S3+
pulse switch.
• Check combustion.
Comply with recommended boiler
manufacturer smoke temperature value,
in order to obtain the required effective
output.
According to combustion value, with
burner working at nominal rate, turn
screw
V
on valve MB VEF, or screw
R
for SKP regulator :
• To increase CO
2
rate, increase the
ratio and vice versa.
• Read cell current (value set from 10 to
50µA).
• Measure gas flow at meter.
• Increase or reduce power by
increasing or reducing value read on
cam
I
graduated cylinder.
• Stop, then restart burner.
• Check combustion as soon as flame
appears.
According to measured values, with
burner in operation, turn screw
N
on
valve MB VEF, or screw
D
of SKP
regulator :
• If required, adjust cam
III
value.
• Increase power to min. regulation flow.
• Check combustion.
• Adjust air/gas flow via cam
V
for min.
regulation. Setting is performed in the
same way as for cam
I
.
• Return power to nominal flow and
check combustion parameters. If
value has changed after turning screw
N
(screw
D
for the SKP), adjust ratio
V
(screw
R
for the SKP) as appropriate.
• Optimize combustion results by
adjusting dimension
Y
(secondary
air), according to procedure described
in the “Setting combustion and
secondary air head” section.
• Reduce dimension
Y
, CO
2
index
increases and vice versa.
Any dimension
Y
modification may
require adjusting secondary air.
• Check combustion.
Check operation during the following:
firing, increasing and decreasing power.
• While burner is in operation and using
foam designed for that purpose, check
for any possible leaks in gas train
connections.
No leaks should be observed.
• Check safety units.
Setting and checking safety units
Gas pressure switch:
• Set to minimum distribution pressure.
Burner is working with ignition flow.
• Slowly close ball valve.
Burner should stop due to insufficient
gas pressure.
• Reopen ball valve.
Burner restarts automatically.
The pressure switch is set.
• Fit and screw cover on.
Air pressure switch:
Burner is working with ignition flow.
• Look for air pressure switch cut-off
point (lock).
• Multiply value read by 0.8, in order to
obtain setting point.
• Restart then stop burner.
Leakage controller VPS, only for burners
C160 and
C210
.
• Open
pa
on VPS.
• Restart burner.
After 30s, VPS should lockout to safety
(red lamp on).
• Reclose
pa
.
• Press red indicator to release VPS
safety lockout.
The control cycle restarts.
Burner works.
• Check tightness.
• Simultaneously disconnect both
microammeter cables.
Unit should immediately lockout.
• Refit measuring bridge and covers.
• Disconnect measurement appliances.
• Reclose pressure take-offs.
• Release cover.
Burner is working.
• Check the following:
- for any leaks between flange and
boiler front,
- that regulator circuit is open (limiter
and safety).
- the intensity setting on fan motor
thermal relay:
C120,160 :
5.5A / 400V
C210 :
6.6A / 400V
• Test display operation
• Check combustion in real operating
conditions (doors closed, cover on,
etc.), as well as for leaks in the various
circuits.
• Record results in relevant documents
and inform dealer of these results.
• Switch on burner in automatic mode.
• Convey information required for
operation to those concerned.
• Place the boiler-room plate where it
can be easily seen.
