Advanced Configurations 8
Adding a
CD-ROM Drive
You can daisy-chain a CD-ROM drive to your computer by connecting the drives with a data cable. You
can connect two IDE CD-ROM drives to an IDE port. If your second drive is not a Creative IDE CD-
ROM drive, consult the documentation for the second drive before connecting the two drives.
You must set one of the two drives connected
to the IDE port as a master and the other as a
slave. The master/slave assignment is made by
configuring the jumper block at the back of the
CD-ROM drives—the factory default for the
Creative CD-RW drive is for a master.
In Windows 95/98
After connecting the drive, switch on your computer to allow Windows 95 to detect the CD-ROM drive.
When prompted to select a driver for your new hardware, insert the Drivers Disk into the appropriate
drive; select “Driver from disk provided by hardware manufacturer” and choose OK. Follow the
remaining prompts to complete the installation.
