Removal and Replacement Procedures
Installing a Wide Ultra2 SCSI Controller
If you have a Wide Ultra2 SCSI hard drive installed, you can enhance drive performance by
installing an optional PCI Controller.
NOTE
: For best performance, do not mix Wide-Ultra and Wide Ultra2 SCSI hard drives on the
same SCSI cable or channel.
1.
Turn off the workstation and disconnect the power cord from the grounded AC outlet and
the back of the workstation.
2.
Remove the following components:

Side access panel
❏
Expansion board assembly
3.
Install the Wide Ultra2 SCSI Controller. The second PCI slot is the recommended
location for the Wide Ultra2 SCSI Controller.
4.
Connect the Wide Ultra2 SCSI Controller cable to one of the connectors on top of the
controller.
NOTE
: The cable must be installed before replacing the expansion board assembly.
5.
Connect the Wide Ultra2 SCSI Controller cable to the connector on the rear of the hard
drive.

6.
Connect the power cable to the rear of the hard dive.
7.
Replace the expansion board assembly.
8.
Reassemble the workstation.
