Bay 4
Bay 4 supports both 3.5-inch and 5.25-inch devices. For a 3.5-inch device, a special mounting
bracket is required.
NOTE
: Compaq does not support mixing IDE and SCSI hard drives.
Installing a 3.5-inch device
NOTE
: This procedure describes the installation of a 3.5-inch hard drive. The same procedure
can be used for installing any 3.5-inch device in bay 4.
NOTE
: If you are installing or removing a 10K RPM hard drive, see “Removing and Replacing a
10K RPM Hard Drive in Bay 4” later in this section.
To install an optional 3.5-inch drive in bay 4:
1.
Perform the service preparations described on page 3-2.
2.
Remove the following components:

workstation cover
❏
front bezel
❏
EMI shield (if installed)

Insert the drive into the mounting bracket

4.
Insert the screws into the holes on each side of the bracket to secure the drive

CAUTION:
Use only 3/16-inch or 5-mm screws as retaining screws. Longer
screws can damage the internal components of the drive.
