DIGITAL PowerStorm 1000 Graphics Subsystem Owner's Guide 3–3
3.3 Black Screen
If the screen is black, check the power and verify the AlphaStation as described below.
Check Power:
Verify that power is applied to the PowerStorm 1000 subsystem, the AlphaStation, and the
monitor and that they are “ON” and that no fuses or circuit breakers are open.
On the PowerStorm 1000 subsystem, depress the power ON/OFF switch on the front panel
of the deskside chassis. Verify that the power LED is illuminated.
Remove the left side panel and verify that all power control harness are plugged in to their
proper location. Refer to Chapter 5 if a problem is suspected.
With the left side panel off, use a pen to depress the interlock switch. Verify that the
motherboard power LEDs are lit. ( These are located under the 1st Image Rendering
Module on the right side of the motherboard.) There are LEDs for +5, +3.3, and +12 volts.
Also verify that the system fan is operating.
Verify AlphaStation:
On the entry and full PowerStorm 1000, connect the VGA cable from the AlphaStation
directly to the monitor. Disconnect the Hbus cable from the AlphaStation.
On the high resolution PowerStorm 1000, disconnect the Hbus cable from the
AlphaStation.
Re-boot the AlphaStation and check for normal operation.
If it does not re-boot properly, remove the Workstation Interface Board from the
AlphaStation and try again. If it re-boots, then call customer support to report a defective
Workstation Interface Board. Otherwise, go to the AlphaStation troubleshooting
procedure.
