Default Configuration
When a server node is first powered on, the system ROM detects the
unconfigured state of the hardware and provides default configuration settings
for most devices. By providing this initialization, the server node can run
diagnostics and other software applications before running the normal
SmartStart and system configuration programs.
NOTE:
Formatting and partitioning the boot drive before running SmartStart and the
system configuration programs may prohibit creating a system partition and using the
management features that it provides.
As part of the default configuration process, you are prompted to identify your
intended installation operating system. On subsequent reboots you can change
your operating system selection if you entered a wrong choice.
An information message indicating that you are running with a default
configuration occurs each time you boot the system until you run the system
configuration programs.
Compaq SmartStart
Compaq SmartStart, which is located on the Compaq SmartStart and Support
Software CD, is the intelligent way to configure your Compaq
ProLiant CL380 with major operating system software. SmartStart helps you
achieve a well-integrated system that ensures maximum manageability and
dependability. For more information about configuration, refer to the
Compaq ProLiant CL380 Software User Guide
