Carrying cylinders
As noted above cylinders must not be carried by the handwheel. Carrying a cylinder by
the handwheel places undue stress on the valve mechanism. If removing a cylinder
from a horizontal shelf, while hanging on to the handwheel, the weight of the cylinder
can cause it to rotate downward, causing the valve to open slightly.
To carry a cylinder, it can be by cradled cradling in your arms or by holding the body of
the valve.
