SECTION 1 - GENERAL INFORMATION AND SAFETY

6. Keep the children away from and off the baler at
all times.
7. Prior to engaging the PTO, always make sure
there are no persons or obstacles nearby. Warn
bystanders by sounding the horn three times.
8. Do not make tight turns with the PTO under a
heavy load to avoid damage to the PTO joints
and transmission shaft.
9. Always operate the baler at a safe speed in
accordance with the type of ground. On uneven
ground, proceed with the utmost caution to
ensure proper stability.
10. When operating on gradients do not drive toofast,
especially when turning.
11. Use extreme caution when operating with
thewheels close to the edge of a ditch or a steeply
dropping embankment.
12. Do not enter the area between the tractor
wheelsand the machine when the tractor engine
is running.
13. Keep hands, feet and/or garments away
frommoving parts. Check that all transmission
parts are correctly guarded.
14. Never attempt to check or to adjust chain tension
while the baler is running.
15. Never attempt to clear crop or other foreignmatter
from the pick-up whilst the machine is running.
Such imprudence could cost you your life or limb.
In the event of a blockage, always disengage the
PTO, switch off the tractor engine and apply the
flywheel brake first. Wait until the machine has
stopped completely before trying to unplug.
16. Do not attempt to pull twine out of the
balechamber or from the knotters whilst the baler
is running.
17. When engaging the flywheel brake, always
grabthe control lever firmly down to its bottom
position so as to prevent it from jumping back
after passing dead point. Make sure the brake is
well adjusted. Refer to Section 4 - LUBRICATION
AND MAINTENANCE.
18. Always make sure that the area behind
themachine is clear before ejecting the bale.
19. After a working day or whenever the
balerremains inoperative for a long period, switch
off the power to the console to conserve the
tractor battery.
20. Always remove the ignition key from the
tractorwhen leaving it unattended.
Machine maintenance
1. Follow the maintenance schedule with regard to
the machine servicing intervals. Remember that
the machine requires minor attention from time to
time. Also remember that the time taken on
maintenance will greatly extend the life of your
machine.
2. When adjusting, cleaning, lubricating or carrying
out repairs, the baler must be completely
stopped. Disengage the PTO, stop the tractor
engine, remove tractor starting key, engage the
flywheel brake and lock the knotter tripping
mechanism.
3. Always chock wheels before working on or under
the machine.
