Clinical and operational alerts
The Pyxis MedStation system provides alert messages to Cerner when specific
events occur. The alerts appear on the Cerner Alert Dashboard.
Alerts
• Communications down— when communications are interrupted or failed to
initiate between the console and the station or the console and CareFusion
Interface.
• Critical override— when a station is placed in “Critical Override” mode
through the Temporary Non-Rx Mode, Manual Enable, Manual Enable on
Downtime or Delay, or Use Schedule options available on the Rx tab in
Device Settings.
• Discrepancy recorded— when a discrepancy has been recorded at a station.
• Drawer unexpected open— when a drawer is exposed without authorization.
• Failed Drawer— when a station drawer fails.
• Order meds not loaded— when an order is received for a medication that is
not loaded in the station associated with the patient's nursing unit or visit unit.
• Override performed— when a medication is removed as an override.
• RxCheck required— when an RxCheck is required for a specific station,
drawer, sub-drawer, and pocket.
• Stock out— when a medication becomes out of stock.
• Stock critically low— when stock is critically low based on a percentage of
the pocket's “minimum stock” value.
• Temp out of range— when the temperature inside a refrigerator with Pyxis
SMART Remote Manager becomes higher or lower than a specified range.
• Unload standard stock— when the last pocket of a indicated standard stock
medication has been unloaded at a station.
• Wrong dose removed:— when the quantity of a medication removed is
different than the ordered amount.
NOTE
For the Wrong dose removed alert, you must enable the Remove Warnings
setting on the console for this alert.
