STEP 19
NOTE:
On models before TRE0216003 the bearing
is press fit and will require the hub, seal and bearing
assembly to be pressed on the axle if not heated in
Step 17. On models after TRE0216003 the bearings
are slide fit.
Carefully install the hub (1) assembly on the axle
without dislodging the inner bearing and face seal
until the face seals make contact. Hold the hub
assembly in the position for Steps 19 through 22.
STEP 20
On models before TRE0216003 the bearing is a
press fit. Heat the outer bearing (1) to 300°F (148°C)
for 20 minutes.
On models after TRE0216003 the bearing is a slide
fit and can be installed without heating.
Install the outer bearing cone (1).
IMPORTANT:
The hub MUST be held in place with
slight pressure against the face seals until the lock
nut is installed in Step 22.
STEP 21
Install the locking washer (1).
STEP 22
Install the lock nut (1) and use the Locknut Socket
(2P-0085) to tighten to 150 N•m (112 ft-lb). Loosen
the locknut 1/2 turn and tighten to 38 N•m (28 ft-lbs).
Rotate the hub five revolutions and check the nut for
correct torque.
