STEP 29
Heat the outer cone (1) to 300°F (148°C) for 20
minutes.
Hold the spindle in the housing and install the outer
bearing cone (1).
WARNING:
Use protective gloves when handling the
bearing cone (1).

STEP 30
Install the spindle nut (1) and hand tighten. Remove
the 2P-0093-100 spacers installed in Step 20. Use
the 2P-0084 Locknut Socket to tighten to 420 N•m
(310 ft-lb). Rotate the spindle five revolutions in each
direction and check the torque.
Use a small pick or awl to check each roller of the
outer bearing cone for looseness. If any of the rollers
are loose tighten the spindle nut in increments of 50
N•m (37 ft-lbs) until all rollers are tight. Turn the
spindle nut clockwise to align the nearest spindle nut
lock channel (2).

IMPORTANT:
When tightening the spindle nut (1),
NEVER turn the nut counterclockwise to align the
lock channels (2). Tighten the nut in increments of 50
N•m (37 ft-lbs) until the nut aligns.
STEP 31
Install the spindle nut lock (1).
