A.3 Produce attenuated backscatter output
message

l

Range correct the backscatter to produce the attenuated backscatter.

l

Attenuated backscatter (output), calibrated, range corrected but not tilt corrected.

l

Smooth with a 20 m (65.6 ft) width running average.

l

A noise gate can be applied based on a multiple of the 20 m (65.6 ft) detection threshold
— this is customer configurable.

l

The lower height range bins do not gate noise until the backscatter reaches zero. This
allows the full extent of mixing layers to be viewed in gating mode.
