Operation and inspections:
Before starting the electric pump unit it is mandatory to check and comply with the limits below:
• Maximum number of start-ups/hour
• Motor minimum cooling speed
• Temperature of pumped fluid
According to what indicated in the tables “Indicative weights and overall dimensions” in chapter 10, the non-observance of the rules listed above,
failing to guarantee the correct operation of the electric pump unit and in particular of the submersible electric motor. will void the warranty of the product.
WARNING
Once installed, the electric pump will not need any particular maintenance. However, to ensure that it continues to function correctly
over time, it should be frequently inspected at least every 3 months or after every 1000-1500 hours service, during which time the
parameters indicated in the ‘Operation report’ should be checked. In addition, the efficiency of all the electrical equipment should be
checked every 6-12 months.
If operation is faulty, find the causes and proceed as a consequence, as described in this manual.
In case of PT100 probe inside the motor, whose function is to check its temperature, follow the procedure below for the setting
of the machine stop and warning temperature thresholds:
a) Start the electric pump and set to the duty point with the highest absorbed power; the temperature inside the motor will increase
progressively and will be monitored by the probe. Upon reaching the operating conditions (depending on the motor up to 2 hours may be required)
the read temperature will stabilise.
b) When the temperature reading is stable set the first alarm (
warning
) to a value equal to the read tempe3°C; the alarm will record
the exceeding of this value, as evidence for the next inspection;
c) The second alarm (machine stop), that must stop the motor, will have to be set to a value equal to the read temperature
+6°C: the following start-up, with recording of the exceeding of machine stop threshold, can be automatic but it should occur with
a delay from the stop of at least 15 minutes or at an internal temperature of the motor lower than 20°C compared to the temperature set for the
machine stop alarm;
The triggering of the 1st alarm can indicate a motor malfunction:
check motor temperature to verify whether the standard working condition has
been restored.
The triggering of the 2nd alarm, with motor stop, occurs when:
1) There is an overload
2) There is a poor cooling
3) There are frequent start-ups
If the 2nd alarm is triggered, the motor cannot be restarted before the causes of the malfunction have been verified.
If the procedure described above is not followed, notwithstanding the checks and obligations of the operation limits listed above, it will be
possible to set the machine stop threshold (2nd alarm) as follows:
1) With motor covered in PVC, Calpeda strongly recommends setting the maximum temperature of the second alarm to 50°C.
2) With motor covered in PE2+PA, Calpeda strongly recommends setting the maximum temperature of the second alarm to 65°C.
These limits allow preventing permanent damages to the motor and their non-observance will void the warranty of the product.
NOTE: temperature monitoring with probe PT100, even with a correct setting of the stop threshold, does not protect the motor against
hazardous localised overtemperatures when the correct cooling is not guaranteed (water speed outside the motor lower than the required
one indicated in the table available in the “Technical data, size and weights” section of the manual).
In these cases, change the installation or use a suitable cooling stage casing.
6.3
Maintenance:
The motor must only be serviced and repaired by specialized personnel possessing adequate qualifications and using suitable tools.
Moreover, these persons must have studied and understood the contents of this manual and any other documentation supplied with
the motor.
Removal
.
Before any operation involving the motor is performed, it must be disconnected from the installation's power supply source. Work through the
instructions given in the ‘Electrical connections and relative information’ section if the motor must be disassembled from the installation.
Also make sure: that the various components remain stable once they have been set in the vertical position.
Only use Calpeda original spare parts if repairs are required otherwise all forms of warranty will become void. Moreover, failure to do so will relieve
the Manufacturer from all liability.
Give the following information when ordering spare parts from Calpeda S.p.A. or one of its Authorized Assistance Centers:
1 - complete code of the product;
2 - date code and/or serial number and/or job order when present;
3 - name and reference number of the required part, as indicated in the spare parts catalogue (available from authorized assistance centers);
4 - number of parts required.
6.4
Idle periods:
If the electric pump unit must remain submerged during long idle periods, it is advisable to start it up every 20 to 30 days to prevent the rotor from
blocking.
Consult the ‘Storage and handling’ chapter for further instructions.
7
REMOVAL FROM SERVICE AND DISMANTLING:
If the motor must be dismantled, the operator must perform all the decommissioning and dismantling operations in strict compliance with all the
pertinent local disposal laws and regulations.
End-of-life product disposal.
INFORMATION TO USERS pursuant to Article 14 of the DIRECTIVE 2012/19/EU OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 4
July 2012 on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)
The crossed-out wheeled bin symbol on the electrical and/or electronic equipment (EEE) or on its package indicates that the product
must be collected separately at the end of its service life and not disposed of with other mixed municipal waste.
DOMESTIC EEE
Please contact your municipality, or local authority, for all the information regarding the locally available separate collection systems. The
retailer of the new equipment has the obligation to take back the old one upon the purchase of an equipment of equivalent type, in order to start the
correct recycling/disposal cycle. In Italy, domestic EEE are electric pumps with single-phase motor. This classification must be verified in the other
European nations.
PROFESSIONAL EEE
The separate collection of this equipment after its useful life is organised and managed by the manufacturer. Therefore, any user that may want to
dispose of this equipment can either contact the manufacturer and follow the system implemented to separately collect the equipment at the end
of its useful life, or autonomously select an authorised waste management chain. In any case, the user must respect the take-back conditions laid
down by the Directive 2012/19/EU.
Illegal disposal of the product by the user shall be subject to the application of the sanctions provided for by law.
