Model 4000C Instruction Manual

This option allows the user to change the number of transmit points used during a scan.
Normally the maximum transmit point is set to the number of points in the system (512). This
option is useful when the system has more points installed than the assembly being tested.
Decreasing the maximum transmit point (to the number of points needed) with this command
decreases the test time.
Range = 1 to 512
Default = System Size (512)
Retest Delay - RD #
Sets up a time delay between the time when a continuity is found and the time when retested. If
the Retest Flag is set, this parameter sets a delay from the time a continuity is found and the
retest is performed. Therefore, in most cases it is not necessary to use this function. Where high
interwire capacitance or cross-talk is present on the cable under test, however, increasing this
value will help to eliminate intermittent errors.
Range = 1 to 9999 milliseconds
Default = 500 milliseconds
Retest Flag - RT #
This command enables or disables the retest option for TEST. If the option is enabled, the
Model 4000C will retest all continuities found. This command is used when necessary to
remove errors that otherwise could occur because of noise or interwire capacitance in the circuit
under test. Disabling this option allows the Model 4000C to test the harness slightly faster.
Range = ON/OFF
Default = ON
Scan Delay - SD #
This command sets up a time delay between the time when a transmitter applies a voltage to the
point under test and the start of scanning the receivers for a continuity. Therefore, in most cases,
this function is not necessary. Where high interwire capacitance or cross-talk is present on the
cable under test, however, increasing this value will help to eliminate intermittent errors.
Range = 1 to 9999 milliseconds
Default = 800 milliseconds
Test Clock Speed - SE #
This command sets up the clock speed for Test. The Model 4000C has a user-programmable test
clock speed. In most cases, this function is not necessary. In special cases, however, where a
long cable or a cable with higher than normal capacitance is being tested, the user may need to
set the test clock to a slower speed to obtain consistent results. Sometimes a cable with much
less than normal capacitance may be tested; then the clock can be brought up to full speed to
reduce test time.
Range = 1 to 64 microseconds
Default = 20 microseconds
Learn Known Good Clock Speed - SL #
