INTERACTIVE USER NOTATION PROGRAMMING
A Probe ID mode can be used as an alternative method in assigning user notation to point
numbers. The Probe ID mode combines the Search mode with the Editor's Replace mode in the
User Notation Table. This mode normally is used when assigning the user notation while
probing the test fixture.
1.
Connect the test fixture to the Model 4000C. To avoid incorrect point detection and
assignment, make sure that no assembly is connected to the fixture.
2.
Enter the two-letter command ID, followed by an ENTER.
3.
Connect the wrist strap to the PROBE input on the Model 4000C rear panel.
4.
Touch a point on the fixture with your finger, or use a metal probe if the point is recessed
in a connector.
5.
Once a point is probed, the display will lock and display the point number along with the
current user notation of the point, if one has been assigned.
6.
Using the keyboard, enter a new notation of up to eight characters. The first character
must be a non-numeric.
7.
After the user notation has been assigned, press ENTER to continue.
8.
If you wish not to make a change to the displayed user notation, press ENTER or the
footswitch without entering characters.
