Inertise during 200 seconds, then the gas supply can be closed and
the inertisation is finished

After the inerting, the pump can start. The seal on exhaust side has to
be continually supplied with a barrier gas, e.g. air or nitrogen.

On starting the motor, some important vibrations of the pump can
briefly occur. Consequently, a possible alarm of the vibrations pickup
(SA+/ 0701) up to 10 seconds after the motor starting should not be
considered.

For a warm running of the pump, further flushing gas can also be sup-
plied. After the running temperature is reached, the suction valve MV1
can be released and open by a signal of the temperature probe TS+/
0102. As some suction flanges jerkily open, it is admissible to not
consider an eventual alarm of the vibrations pickup during the
opening.

Running

During the running, the pump turns continually. No other connection
will be activated.

The customer must operate the pump in accordance with explosion
protection regulations.

Empty running

Before the cut-off of the vacuum pump, the vacuum pump must be
inertised inside, when it could not be excluded that an explosive mix-
ture is present inside the pump. For the inerting, the vacuum pump
must run a certain time, during which a flushing with non explosive gas
is executed.

Inerting process :

l

Let run the pump

l

Close the pump inlet after the end of process (suction flange MV1)

l

Feed non explosive gas through the flushing gas connection,
suction side

l

Inertise during at least during 200 seconds, then the gas supply
can be closed and the inerting is finished

l

Cut-off the pump, close the valves MV2, MV3, MV5, MV7

In case of condensate formation bound to the process, the time of the
inerting should be extended of minimum 10 minutes. Such a way, the
pump will be dry.

On switch off the motor, some important vibrations of the pump can
briefly occur. Consequently, a possible alarm of the vibrations pickup
(SA+/ 0701) should not be considered.

Depending on the purge medium, the optional liquid purge should
take place at a reduced speed (10 Hz) and after the inerting. The emp-
ty pump works with internal compression and can therefore only take a
limited amount of fluid, which is determined by the pipe section.

Flushing procedure :

l

Inertise the pump

l

Let run the pump (max. 10 Hz)

l

Close the pump inlet after the end of process (suction flange MV1)

l

Feed flushing liquid through the flushing liquid connection (MV4
open), suction side

l

The flushing duration and quantity is dependent on the process
and the experience

l

Close MV4 after the flushing

l

Dry the pump with flushing gas minimum10 minutes, see inerting
process

l

Switch off the pump, close all valves
