Connecting Terminals
The figure indicates the three serial ports and the SVGA port:

SVGA port
The following table summarizes the function of the terminal ports available on the system:
COM1
Used to connect an ASCII terminal. This terminal is called BUMP console.
The Stand-By menu is available only on the terminal connected to this port.
COM2
Used to remotely connect, via an external modem, an ASCII terminal to be
used for remote maintenance by customer service centers.
It can also be used as a normal RS-232 serial line.
COM3
Used as a normal RS-232 serial line. It can also be used to connect an
external UPS device (Uninterruptible Power Supply). The UPS, if present,
provides continuous power to the system and sustains it in case of outages,
for a given amount of time.
SVGA
Used to connect a graphic display monitor which is defined, by default, as
the Open Firmware console.
