6.4.1 Creating a Method
Using an adequate measurement/quantification method for the required measurement task
improves the accuracy of quantification significantly.
In the process of creating a new method it is necessary to define the measurement conditions for
the method. For creating a non-calibrated method both, a primary spectrum and all necessary pure
element spectra need to be already measured under the same measurement conditions.
Note
Check the availability of primary and pure element spectra for the pre-set
measurement conditions. Alternatively, these system spectra can be loaded.
6.4.1.1 Standard-based Bulk Methods (LT)
The Lucas-Tooth (LT) method is a calculation procedure that works based on the comparison with
already measured standard samples. Therefore, it is a method that only works when it is calibrated,
and then delivers very precise quantification results. To calibrate a LT method you need N+1
measured standard samples, when N is the number of elements used in the method.
Before you start creating a LT method, also check the availability of an appropriate set of already
measured standards.
Start the process by clicking the
button to change to the methods workspace. Click on the
button to open the

and create a new method (Fig. 62).
