GRADISCA Restyling
rev.1- 06/2004

Recommended operating values
- Pump pressure: ± 9 bars
It is shown on the blue scale of the delivery manometer.
It can be regulated using the pump’s bypass screw:
turn clockwise for an increase in pressure. (Cam version).
- Boiler pressure: 0,11/0,12 MPa (1,1/1,2 bar) - LEVA: CA. 0,125 MPa (1,25 bar)
It is shown on the red scale of the manometer.
It can be regulated using the pressure switch’s screw:
turn clockwise for a decrease in pressure.
- Safety valve opening pressure: ± 1.7 bars
- Expansion valve opening pressure:
- 1
st
expansion valve: ± 10.5 bars
- 2
nd
expansion valve: ± 11 bars
The lever version is not equipped with expansion valve.
The opening pressure can be checked via the apposite filter holder (blind) with the manometer
and delivering only water: when the manometer needle stops, the valve will start to drip.
- Coffee delivery temperature: 85/92°C
The temperature depends on the type of used blend;
it can be checked with a precision thermometer during delivery.
The pressure switch’s screw can be used for minor adjustments (see boiler pressure).
Location and connections
Before installing the machine it is advisable to check the efficiency of the water mains (n° 10 fig.1), of the electrical connections (n° 1 fig. 1) and
of the gas mains (for gas-heated machines).
An electric cut-out (n° 2 fig. 1) with fuses rated for the machine’s electrical input is needed for the machine to be properly connected.
Attention: the earth connection (yellow/green wire) is mandatory. Finally, the efficiency of the main drain pipe must be checked before it is
connected to the machine’s drain pipe (n° 7 fig.1).
Hydraulic connections:
- Water inlet: pipe 3/8 union int. ø 10/12 mm.
- Drain - pipe: int. ø 16/17 mm.
Locate the machine on the shelf and find a suitable position for the water softener (n° 12 fig. 1). Connect the softener to the tap (n° 9) using the
pipe (n° 11 fig. 1). Connect the pipe (n° 13) to the water inlet (n° 5). Connect pipe (n° 7) to the drain tray (n° 6) and then to the main drain pipe
(n° 8). Place a recipient under the water softener's discharging pipe (see regeneration instructions page 10). Open tap (9) and run the water
through for a few minutes to clean the softener.
Make the electrical connections, connecting the power supply cord (n° 3 fig.1) to the mains line switch (n° 2).
If the machine is fitted with a gas system, connect it to the tap (n° 17 fig.1) using the pipe (n° 16) and adjust it as instructed.
Start-up
1) Turn the switch knob to position 1.
If the machine is fitted with water level control, the boiler will be filled automatically (green indicator light turns off when filling completed). If,
however, the machine does not have a water level control, filling with water must be done manually (n° 14), checking the water level in the
boiler on the graduated visual level gauge which is provided with “minimum” and “maximum” references. Add water when the level gauge
approaches the “minimum” mark.
2) When the water in the boiler reaches the right level, set the main switch knob to position 2 to switch the heating element on. Wait until the
machine reaches working pressure (red indicator light off); open the steam tap for a few seconds and then close it again.
3) Check that the boiler pressure is around 0.9/1 bar.
4) Make a coffee and check the delivery pressure on the manometer: it should be 9 bars.
P semi-automatic version operation
- Press the switch located above the selected group to start delivery.
- When the required quantity has been delivered, press the switch again to stop it.
