Routing Table
Directs packet forwarding by matching destination addresses to the network paths used
to reach them. Each entry in a routing table has at least two fields - IP address/netmask
and next hop. The next hop is the IP address of another host or router. The IP address/
netmask specifies a set of destinations for which the routing entry is valid. In order to be
in this set, the beginning of the destination IP address must match the IP address and
netmask. For example, an IP address prefix of 128.8.0.0/255.255.0.0 would match any
IP destination address of the form 128.8.X.X
