Selection of the base plate:
The length of the spine is measured along its course via the spinous processes of the spine from the
intergluteal fold to the head (cranially). The base plate is decisively selected according to the affected
segment/s as well as the patient’s individual body size! The base plate is available in 4 different lengths.
Function of the spring tension elements:
The dynamics of the brace can be selected individually. The spring strength determines the extent of
straightening and therefore postural improvement. The following spring strengths are available:
30 Newton, 40 Newton, 50 Newton, 60 Newton and 80 Newton. Primarily the spring strengths of 80N to 60N
are used in the post-operative application area, the treating physician determines the strength to be used.
Conservatively treated patients with muscular insufficiency, osteoporosis and also in case of therapy for
secondary kyphosis can profit from spring strengths from 30N to 50N, always in relation to the patient’s
individual constitution.
Strap lock:
If in both the conservative and post-operative application area (temporarily) dynamics are not applied via
spring tension elements, the strap lock in both the individual straps’ belt connectors can be used. The
installation of the strap lock in all three tension straps is used by the BORT DynamicFX back brace to fix
the lumbar and thoracic spine when the pantyhose, and shoulder straps are closed correctly.
Inserting/exchanging the spring tension elements:
All spring tension elements are colour-marked, dependent on their spring constant:
30 Newton

yellow, 40 Newton
➡
white, 50 Newton
➡
blue, 60 Newton
➡
red, 80 Newton

To exchange the spring elements, release the spring protection bag press stud and push it upwards.
6
Open the Allen screws on both strap connectors with the Allen key provided and exchange the
spring tension elements as required. Then, close the Allen screw again.
7
Now, pull the spring protection bag downwards again and close the press stud again on the base
plate. All 3 BORT DynamicFX back brace straps should be equipped with the same spring strength.
Putting the pantyhose on:
8
Before putting the basic support on, separate it from the base plate by releasing the Velcro fastener.
Position the basic support with the lower edge of the back section at the height of the gluteal fold.
The patient then closes the basic support at the front.
