Placing motorcycle on
side stand
No secure stance is pos-
sible on poor ground
conditions.
In the area of the stand, make
sure that you find an even and
firm surface.
c
Sitting on the motorcycle:
• Switch off the engine.
• Set the handbrake.
• Balance the motorcycle in a
vertical position.
• With your left foot extend the
side stand as far as it will go
(arrow).
• Slowly incline the motorcycle
on the stand, relieving the
load, and dismount to the
left.
• Turn the handlebars to the
full left or right lock position.
• Check that the motorcycle is
standing firmly.
If the motorcycle is on the
side stand, it depends on
the features of the ground
whether it is better to turn the
handlebars to the left or right.
However, the motorcycle is
more stable on a level surface
with the handlebars turned to
the left than with the handle-
bars turned to the right.
On level ground, always turn
the handlebars to the left to set
the steering lock.
c
The side stand is only
configured for the weight
of the motorcycle.
Do not sit on the motorcycle
while it is resting on the side
stand.
c
If the road is at an incline,
point the motorcycle
"uphill" and engage 1st gear.
