5. SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE
5.1 Cleaning
Device
1. Clean the device at regular intervals.
2. Disconnect the AC power cord from the AC power supply or switch off the
main unit before cleaning.
3. Do not sterilize by irradiation, steam, autoclave or ethylene oxide.
4. Do not use undiluted bleach or any cleaning solution than those recom
-
mended here because permanent damage to the device could occur.
5. Wipe the device using surgical spirit and cotton swab at least once every
week or at regular intervals.
6. Ensure that cleaning solution doesn’t seep inside the device.
7. Allow the device to dry prior to operation.
Probes
1. Clean the pulse oximeter probe sensor before applying it to a new patient.
2. Remove the pulse oximeter probe sensor from the patient before cleaning.
3. Do not sterilize, autoclave, or immerse the probes in liquid of any kind. Do
not pour or spray any liquids onto the probes.
4. Do not use caustic or abrasive cleaning agents on the probes. Do not use
cleaning agents containing ammonium chloride.
5. To clean the probes, wipe all infant contact surfaces with a 70% isopro
-
pyl alcohol pad or mild detergent. Or a soft cloth dampened with a 10%
bleach/90% water solution.
6. Allow the probes and sensors to dry thoroughly prior to placement on an
infant.
