So far we have described bridges with just one wide area link. In Figure 2-
4, however, bridge 1 has two wide area links, one to bridge 2 and one to
bridge 3. Again, bridge 1 sees the link to bridge 2, bridge 2 itself and
remote LAN C as one LAN segment.
When seen in this way, bridge 1 performs in the same way as the local
bridge shown in Figure 2-2. Frames arriving on one of bridge 1's links will
be treated as if they arrived on its LAN interface. If the destination address
is reached via the other link, then the data will be sent directly down that
link. It is not placed on bridge 1's LAN interface. Therefore, frames
passing between LAN B and LAN C will not affect the performance of
LAN A.
