The full procedure for configuring IPX support is as follows:
1.
Configure the general parameters (Unit name, IP address, etc).
2.
In the ISDN Numbers table of each Nautica series Bridge, define the
name and ISDN number of every remote Nautica series Bridge to be
connected. It is important to configure this information before
moving to the next step.
3.
ENABLE Learn Novell for the Ethernet type required in each Nautica
series Bridge, using the Bridge Parameters form.
4.
Set up a manual ISDN call between two Nautica series Bridges which
are to communicate with each other using ISDN.
5.
Let the ISDN connection continue for at least 5 minutes, to allow the
Nautica series Bridges to learn the locations of the servers and routers
on the network.
6.
Close the ISDN connection.
7. Repeat
steps
4 to 6 for each pair of Nautica series Bridges which are
to communicate using ISDN.
8.
SAVE the Configuration.
If more Nautica series Bridges are added to the network later, follow the
same procedure as above. It is important to configure unit names and ISDN
numbers before Learn Novell is ENABLEd.
If the Nautica series Bridge is to respond to "get nearest server" requests
from a client workstation on behalf of a remote server, add a ! prefix
character to the ISDN Autocall table entry corresponding to the remote
server.
Unsolicited information from servers can be used to initiate an ISDN
connection to a remote workstation by configuring the workstation address
in the server's local Nautica series Bridge. On the Nautica series Bridge
local to the server, configure an ISDN Autocall table entry of type
‘IPX_WS’ (Workstation) with the MAC address of the workstation. Repeat
this for each workstation.
