Dynamic Teach (Smart Sensor Profile Spec.)
With this process, no static teach points are recorded,
unlike with the previous methods; rather, multiple
measurement values are recorded over a defined period of
time. Measurement value acquisition is started with the
Dynamic Teach SP1 Start
system command and ended
with
Dynamic Teach SP1 Stop
. If all recorded
measurement values were in the valid detection range, the
switching point calculation is started. For this purpose, the
minimum and maximum values are determined. The
average value of these two extrema is used to form the
new switching point (setpoint). The minimum acquisition
time is 5 minutes.

Primary Device Functions (continued)
Dynamic Teach (Balluff spec.)
This teach process is only available in Two-Point and
Window Mode. As with the previous process, the
measurement values are dynamically recorded over a
defined period of time. Measurement value acquisition is
started via the
Dynamic Teach SP1 Start
system
command, but ended here with
Dynamic Teach SP2 Stop
.
If all recorded measurement values were in the valid
detection range, the switching point calculation is started.
The minimum and maximum values are determined for this
purpose. Unlike the previous process, the maximum value
is used as switching point 1 (SP 1) and the minimum value
as switching point 2 (SP2). The minimum acquisition time
is again 5 minutes.

Manual Teach-in
In addition to the IO-Link-controlled teach processes, there
is the possibility of a manual teach-in. This is, in principle, a
Singe-Value Teach of setpoint 1 in the Single-Point
switching mode. With this process, only SSC 1 can be
taught. The teach process is started with a high pulse on
PIN 2. The now-active teach process is indicated by
illumination of the red LED.
If the LED switches off, the teach process has been ended
successfully. The sensor or SSC1 is now in Single-Point
Mode, the new setpoint is used as switching point in
combination with the standard hysteresis. The previous
configuration is discarded.
If the LED flashes for 3 seconds, the teach process was
not ended successfully. In this case, the previous
configuration continues to be used. The following error
causes are possible:
– The current measurement value is outside of the
validity range.
– The sensor cannot be parameterized locally. The
reasons for this are currently active ISDU
communication, an active block parameterization or set
access locks.
It is recommended that the manual teach process
only be used with inactive IO-Link communication
(in SIO modus).
