It is possible to define text strings that are filled out
automatically by external software (music
automation). Commonly used fields are artist name,
album name, song name, an extra field for
miscellaneous information and song duration.

For the external software to fill out these fields, it
must send (via telnet), a command with the following
format: <command>=<value>. Commands can be
user-defined in the RDS application, thus allowing
them to be compatible with many different
automation systems.

Equipment configuration can be done via Telnet using ASCII commands:
Commands are sent using a telnet
application with a configurable
port.
Then encoder will
repeat the line before
sending the next one
(max: 99 times).
Text may include dynamic data
(<ITEM….>) that will only be sent
if filled in, and if the validity time
frame is correct. Click on the
