TNGD (Transmitter Network Group Designation)
(3)
The first three bits of the five last bits of block 2 of type 1A Group (radio paging codes) are used to
designate the transmitter network to a group of pager group codes. Pagers not belonging to the
designated group codes will not lock on the transmitter.
The group designations are as follows:
TNGD
Group codes
Number of group codes
0
No basic paging on channel
1 00-99
100
2 00-39
40
3 40-99
60
4 40-69
30
5 70-99
30
6 00-19
20
7 20-39
20
The transmitter network group designation makes it possible to distribute the paging calls over multiple
networks, e.g. several networks during day-time and a single network during night-time. The number
of group codes in each network is shown below for the different numbers of networks in operation.
Number of
transmitter networks
Number of group network
codes respectively
1 100
2 40/60
3 40/30/30
4 20/20/30/30
