SAFETY TIPS

1.9.1  Carbon dioxide concentrations

DANGER

Risk of CO

2

 suffocation due to carbon dioxide.

Low concentrations (3 - 5 %) cause headaches and rapid respiration.
Higher  Concentrations  of  7  -  10  %  cause  headaches  and  nausea  which  can 
lead to unconsciousness. Higher concentrations lead to unconsciousness and 
death.

WARNING

The maximal acceptable concentration level of CO

2

 is 5000 ppm. Higher con-

centrations are harmful for the human body (MAK-scale IV). 

Work in adequate ventilated working areas only! 

NOTE

We strongly recommend the use of a CO

2

 detector in working areas where CO

2

 

is used.

1.9.2  Protective clothing

WARNING

Always wear protective goggles when operating the 

ASCOJET

. Also personnel 

working near the blasting place should wear proper eye protection.

WARNING

Dry  ice  blasting  is  very  loud. Always  wear  approved  hearing  protection  when 
operating the 

ASCOJET

 or when being near to the blasting unit.
