10.9.4. Viewing different Pages
A pattern can be longer than 16 steps (see the next section). When this is the case and the
Sequencer is in Step mode, you may see the status of the lit pads change as the pattern
crosses over from steps 1-16 to steps 17-32, etc.
You can view a particular set of 16 steps (or Page) by selecting that range of the pattern with
one of the Page buttons, and as the pattern plays the Page view will not change.
Unless you tell it to change, which you do by activating Page Follow mode. That feature is
described in the next section.
♪
: The red LEDs above one of the Page buttons indicates the current view range, while a white LED
indicates the Page that contains the last step of the pattern. When the LED is pink, both things are true:
you are viewing the Page that contains the last step of the pattern.
10.9.5. Page Follow mode
When working in Step mode with patterns longer than 16 steps, viewing the active steps as
the pattern plays can be confusing. The solution to this is to activate Page Follow mode: hold
Shift and press the Last Step button (it has the word Follow printed underneath). You'll know
when Page Follow mode is active: if it is, the Last Step button will be lit when you press the
Shift button.
When Page Follow mode is active during playback, the Page LEDs and the pads will show
steps 1-16, then steps 17-32, then return to steps 1-16, and so on.
The Pages will keep changing like that until you deactivate Page Follow mode with the same
button combination (Shift + Last Step). You can also deactivate Page Follow mode simply by
pressing one of the Page buttons.
♪
: The playback of the pattern itself is not affected when Page Follow mode is enabled. This only
affects what you are seeing, which should make it easier to edit particular portions of the pattern.
10.9.6. Default Pattern Length
The default length is 16 steps, but a pattern can be up to 64 steps long.
If you’d like your pattern to be less than 16 steps long, simply hold the Last Step button and
then press the pad that corresponds to the desired setting. If you'd like it to be longer than
16 steps, see
below.
